* 1988 -- Led by Ken Owens' 35 points a Tri-City team won last weekend's Yakima Invitational basketball tournament by beating the Seattle Titans 91-81 in the championship game. Owens, an assistant coach with the Columbia Basin College men's basketball team, was named tournament MVP and teammate Jim Benjirman was selected to the all-tournament team.
* 1979 -- Sherry Devoir netted a game-high 19 points to lead Richland to a 57-32 Big Nine road victory over the Davis Pirates.
