The District 5/6 girls bowling championship will take place at 12:45 p.m. Friday at Spare Time Lanes in Kennewick.
The championship was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed because of unsafe driving conditions that closed schools in Wenatchee and delayed the opening of several schools in the Yakima area.
And with state finals scheduled for next Thursday at Narrows Plaza Bowl in Tacoma, there is little to no room for more weather-related interference.
"It looks like we're going to have it no matter what on Friday even if we have to wait for them to show up," Kennewick coach Oscar Garnica said of the event which will allocate one team and two individuals from the 4A side and two teams and four individuals from the 3A/2A roll-off.
But the upshot of the delay is that it provided the CBBN League champion Lions an opportunity to fine-tune their game.
"We had a little practice today and tomorrow will do a couple of bakers and go home and get some rest," Garnica said Wednesday.
