"Gregoire supports gay marriage bill," according the headline in the Jan. 5 Herald. The article describes how Gov. Chris Gregoire wrestled with her conscience and her conscience lost. She deserves our pity and our prayers.
Gov. Gregoire says that it is not OK for the state to discriminate. She is right on that point. And the state of Washington did remove itself from any role of homosexual discrimination when it passed domestic partner legislation, granting full legal rights to those who choose that lifestyle.
The governor fails to recognize that it is also "not OK" for the state to infringe on religious freedom by dragging the God-given union of marriage into homosexuality.
Those who trample on their own conscience seek the approval of others. That, I believe, is the underlying motivation of those who support the sham of same-sex marriage.
