KENNEWICK -- Thanks for the memories. The sign in front of Jack-sons Sports Bar & Restaurant in Kennewick says it all.

Suzi Collinson, general manager of the bar, has worked at Jack-sons for almost 13 years. Memories will be all she has left as she locks up behind the last customers in Sunday's predawn hours.

Ken and Shanna French, who have owned the business for five years, are closing it this weekend just days before their lease runs out.

The Frenches couldn't be reached about their decision, but according to the bar's Facebook page, the couple planned to sell the business at the end of February and new owners would take over March 1.

But they weren't able to come to terms with the owner of the building, Charles Frenzel of Richland, for a one month extension of their lease, they posted.

"Circumstances of the lease renewal were out of our control and now we find ourselves with no agreeable lease terms and no time to hammer it out," said the Facebook post. "We are a strong, close group and will all come out (of) this in time. Thanks to all of you, we will miss you all!"

The Benton County Assessor's website shows Frenzel also owns the building in Richland that houses Jack-sons Sports Bar, owned by Chuck Fisher.

The Richland bar is not closing.

Collinson said Fisher was going to be the new owner taking over in March, but Fisher could not be reached Tuesday about his plans.

Collinson and the rest of the staff is upset and sad to see the sports bar closing.

"We hope to see some familiar faces here in these next few days. We want to thank everyone for coming in over the years. The people who work here, and the customers who come in, have made it a really nice place to work," she said.

But before the key turns in the lock after last call Sunday, there is going to be one more party at the Kennewick bar.

Tom Gnoza and The Millionaires, who have been playing there every Wednesday for four years, offered to play for free Saturday.

"They've become good friends. They're as much a part of Jack-sons as the furniture," Collinson said.

The Frenches and Collinson invite all present and past employees, all their loyal customers to stop by and say good-bye.

"What's done is done. We're going to have one last blowout," she said.
