I was one of the 19 employees recently laid off from Lourdes Medical Center. After nearly 30 years, I can say that the staff is great to work with, and I want to give them my prayers as they face many changes coming.
This country faces many changes in medicine, and I was just a victim of times and a recession. I didn't take it personally, it was the position that was cut.
Many friends and co-workers have been supportive and my church family (Richland Church of the Nazarene) has been there in prayers and support as well.
I thank God for almost 30 years at Lourdes and now I wait to see if another hospital can us a good respiratory therapist. Please do not hold anything against Lourdes, as I don't. It is a business and the staff's commitment to its mission statement and taking care of everyone is still strong. May God bless those working there still.
