PULLMAN Operations at Washington State University's Pullman campus will be suspended Thursday because inclement weather.
All scheduled classes are cancelled and only essential services, including student housing, dining and health services, will be provided. All libraries will be closed. Only those WSU employees previously designated as essential to campus operations should report to work.
The decision to suspend operations was made as a result of continuing snowfall across the region today and the receipt of updated forecasts by the National Weather Service indicating Pullman and the surrounding area could experience high winds with as much as 10 to 16 inches of additional snowfall between tonight and Thursday evening.
"After considering the current conditions on our Pullman campus and the forecast for more snow in the area this afternoon and overnight, we believe that closing campus Thursday is our most prudent option, said WSU President Elson S. Floyd. "Safety is our foremost consideration. I urge everyone in our university community to stay aware of conditions and be careful in their travels.
The last weather-related closure of the Pullman campus occurred in February 2008.
