Carol and Ward Hughes of Richland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 23 in Bellingham.

They were married Dec. 23, 1961, in Wenatchee and moved to the Mid-Columbia in April 2008.

Carol worked for Goodwill and Rite Aid before retiring in 2004 from Goodwill.

Ward has worked for Bancorporation and now works at CI Support in Kennewick. He volunteers at the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission and Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center.

They are members of West Side Church in Richland and are part of their church choir.

They have two children, Martin (Trish) Hughes of Seattle and Kari (Marv) Livermont of Bellingham.

They have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
