VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Tri-City Americans haven't lost back-to-back games since the second week of the season, and they weren't about to do it again Friday night.

Coming off a 3-2 loss at Kamloops on Wednesday, the Americans scored a six pack of goals in the second period en route to an 11-4 victory over the Vancouver Giants at Pacific Coliseum.

It was the most goals scored by the Americans (33-8-0-0, 66 points) since an 11-7 win over Prince George on March 4, 2003. Vancouver (26-15-1-1, 54 points) has only allowed 11 goals twice -- Friday and Jan. 5, 2002 to Kelowna.

After a scoreless first period, Justin Feser scored the first two goals of the second, followed by Adam Hughesman and Brian Williams.

Jordan Messier closed out the period with a pair of goals, with his first at 10:33 chasing Vancouver starter Adam Morrison from the net. Messier scored again at 18:18 against Jackson Whistle.

Tri-City opened the third with two goals in a span of 1:51, as Feser completed a hat trick just 28 seconds in with a short-handed goal. Hughesman scored his second of the night to make it 8-0.

Vancouver came back with three goals within 6 minutes to pull within 8-3, but Nate MacMaster, Brendan Shinnimin and Jesse Mychan scored down the stretch for Tri-City to put the game away.

Before the game, Tri-City coach Jim Hiller was given a contract extension. Per team policy, the terms and length of the extension were not disclosed.

The Americans are back on the ice at 7:05 p.m. today at Spokane.

The Chiefs lost to Everett 4-3 in overtime Friday. It was just the eighth win of the season for Everett.

Spokane is in third place in the U.S. Division with 48 points and is in fifth place in the Western Conference.

The Americans are 4-1 against the Chiefs this season, winning the last three contests. The teams have split two games at Spokane, with the Chiefs winning 7-2 on Oct. 5 and the Ams winning 4-1 on Nov. 5.
