The Columbia Irrigation District is looking for people interested in filing an existing board vacancy for Division 3.

Board member James Berger recently sold his property in the district and is ineligible to serve on the five-member board.

Board members serve three-year terms. The person appointed will fill Berger's term, which expires Dec. 31.

Division 3 covers the area from Washington Street east to South Oak Street.

The CID board meets the first Tuesday of each month, and board members are unpaid volunteers.

Anyone interested in applying for the position must submit a letter of interest stating their qualifications and proof of being a property owner in District 3 before 5 p.m. Jan. 23.

A special board meeting at 11 a.m. Jan. 24 at CID offices, 10 E. Kennewick Ave., will review applications and select a preferred candidate.

Appointments are made by the Benton County commissioners.
