Sunnyside police seek man wanted in stabbing

SUNNYSIDE -- A 29-year-old man was wanted by Sunnyside police Sunday night for allegedly stabbing the mother of his child.

Officers are looking for Manuel Angel Torres of Sunnyside on suspicion of attempted murder.

Shortly after 6 p.m., police learned that a woman who had been assaulted with a knife was in the 1000 block of Tacoma Avenue in Sunnyside, according to Charlotte Hinderlider, the Sunnyside police spokeswoman.

The actual assault reportedly occurred at 16th Street and Lincoln Avenue.

The victim, a 25-year-old Yakima woman, had driven herself to a hospital for treatment, Hinderlider said. Her name was not released.

Torres is described as being 5-foot-8 and 136 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
