Occupy editorial off

While the editorial board "preaches to the converted" over the less-than-stellar aspects of the OWS participants ("Occupy protesters losing 99 percent's sympathy," Dec. 26), I do remember my turn-of-the-century history when the Industrial Workers of the World ("Wobblies") demonstrated for jobs, better wages and decent working conditions. No doubt back then a lot of employed people on the sidelines and bat-wielding strike-breakers were disenchanted with the Wobblies' tactics who were trying to raise the consciousness of the people to the injustices of the controlling moneyed elite. In any protest, no matter what year, nothing ever goes as it should.

For their efforts, the OWS protesters achieved little, if anything. Congress still seems to pander to corporations via their lobbyists and the rest of us live with frustration. "Let them eat Spam," seems to be the prevailing attitude in the nation's Capitol.

Now, having said that, I sense somewhere a CEO banker or Wall Street tycoon must be smiling to read your editorial.
