EAST WENATCHEE -- Hanford and Richland enjoyed a successful trip to East Wenatchee on Saturday, with both teams posting wins in their first swim meet since Dec. 10.
There were no state qualifying times for either team, but Richland or Hanford finished first in all but four events.
Will Wertz and Jake Douglas were a part of Hanford's winning 200-yard medley and 400 freestyle relays. Nick Connors took the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly for Richland.
Hanford's BJ Deatherage, who qualified for state at an 11-dive meet Friday at Moses Lake, did not win Saturday, but he totaled a 204.80 for the best six-dive meet score in school history.

Walla Walla 97, Wenatchee 83
Austin Garrett anchored the first-place 200 medley and 400 free relays, and he also posted wins in the 200 freestyle (1:55.49) and 100 butterfly (57.52) as Walla Walla beat Wenatchee in a CBBN 4A-3A swim meet.
Jonathon Klem competed on the winning relays with Garrett and was victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:06.65) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.47).

Nolan Saam swam under the state qualifying standard in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.35), and he teamed with Tim Bowen, Will Burgett and James Wildman in the 200 medley relay to set a school record (1:48.85) in the Mustangs' home pool.
