EVERETT -- Home or on the road, the Tri-City Americans keep on winning.
Ty Rimmer picked up his second consecutive shutout, and Brendan Shinnimin and Malte Strmwall each had a goal and an assist Saturday night to lead the Americans to a 4-0 victory over the Everett Silvertips at Comcast Arena.
"You know what? I really liked us tonight," Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. "We played a solid game. Every facet of the game -- special teams, goaltending, forechecks -- everything was working."
With the win, the Americans (32-7-0-0) ran their win streak to 13 games and lead the Western Hockey League with 64 points.
It is the longest winning streak in the league this season. The Edmonton Oil Kings won 11 consecutive games from Nov. 23 to Dec. 17.
Everett (7-24-1-7, 22 points) has won just two of its last 10 games and has the worst record in the WHL.
Rimmer (19-4-0-0), who finished with 22 saves, leads the WHL with five shutouts, a 1.85 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. He has won his last eight starts.
In his first year with the Americans, Rimmer ranks third all-time in shutouts for a single season with five. Carey Price had eight and Chet Pickard six. He ranks fourth all-time in shutouts, behind Price (15), Pickard (12) and Drew Owsley (9).
Strmwall opened the scoring for the Americans at 16:32 of the first, picking a loose puck turned over by Everett's Josh Caron and going in alone on Silvertips goalie Kent Simpson for his ninth goal of the season.
Shinnimin, who has points in 13 consecutive games, gave Tri-City a 2-0 lead at 13:54 of the second, going shelf on the glove side for his 24th goal.
Adam Hughesman scored his team-leading 26th goal at 17:16 of the second, giving him 300 career points in his five years with the Americans. He is just the fifth Tri-City player to reach the 300 club.
Mason Wilgosh topped off the scoring with 1:37 left in the second, taking a backhand pass from Justin Feser and converting for his eighth goal of the season.
Feser had two assists and is one of six Tri-City players with 30 or more points.
Before the game, the Americans acquired forward Jesse Mychan, 19, from the Silvertips for a fourth-round bantam draft pick in 2013.
Mychan (6-2, 200 pounds), a rookie from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has three goals, four assists and 106 penalty minutes in 26 games.
"We liked him from the start of the year," Hiller said. "He has been on Bob's (Tory) radar. He is a big strong player, and tough. He is a solid player and that's important to us. We believe he can make a positive impact for us."
