* 1974 -- The Kamiakin Braves made their seventh consecutive basketball win their best, defeating unbeaten Richland 69-66 to take a stranglehold grip on first place in the Big Nine Conference standings. Junior Kevin Aman was superb in the victory, leading his team with 24 points and 12 rebounds. He played the point on the hustling Kamiakin zone defense that "clogged the middle," according to coach Randy Dolven.

* 1961 -- Hoover's Soot Sackers scored 23 points in the fourth quarter and eight in overtime to defeat Kappel's Shoes-Court Street Laundry 73-69 in the Twin City Independent League. Tom Hale finished with 19 points for Hoover's.
