Franklin County will accept Christmas trees for free through Jan. 7.

Christmas trees free of all ornaments and tinsel can be brought to the Tri-Cities International Cross County Running Course in Pasco, just north of Pasco Golf Land on Road 36, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Trees will be chipped and the wood chips will be spread on the running path to improve the surface.

Basin Disposal customers can put their trees -- clean of all ornaments and tinsel -- next to their regular weekly garbage and it will be picked up for free.

For more information, call Franklin County Solid Waste Division at 545-3514.
