MILTON-FREEWATER -- Police agencies are searching Umatilla County for a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a Milton-Freewater man.

Cecil "Rob" Carter was shot Friday about 8:30 a.m. at his home.

He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police are looking for George West Craigen, 49, of Milton-Freewater.

He was seen with a handgun running west into an orchard from Carter's home, the Oregon State Police said.

Craigen is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, has blue eyes and light hair with some gray.

Umatilla County Sheriff John Trumbo said that the county's major crimes team, Milton-Freewater police, Oregon State Police and Walla Walla SWAT officers have been assisting in the search for a suspect known to police.
