YAKIMA -- Yakima police have made two more arrests in connection with the UPS robbery earlier this month.

Travis Michael Cliett, 21, and Stacey Renee Melton, 22, were arrested Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, joining previously arrested suspect Adrian Samalia, 22, in custody at the Yakima County Jail.

The arrests all were made in connection with a robbery Dec. 9 that probably involved a UPS delivery driver.

It began when a man robbed the till at the Chicago Junk recycling yard on South Third Avenue, then swiped a package from a parked UPS van as he fled the scene.

Police said the UPS driver and a witness gave chase but backed off when the robber pointed a pistol at them.

The robber jumped into a waiting dark green Mercedes SUV, which was soon spotted about a mile away on North First Street.

A patrol officer gave chase when a passenger in the SUV jumped out and ran, leading to Samalia's arrest after a brief manhunt. Recovered was a pistol the suspect allegedly flung onto the roof of a storage shed as he fled.

The Mercedes, meanwhile, left the scene and was found abandoned a few blocks away. The officer who spotted the vehicle saw two occupants after the robbery suspect jumped out.

On Thursday, detectives arrested Melton as the getaway driver. They said she had falsely reported the Mercedes stolen shortly after the getaway fell apart.

The day before Melton's arrest, police arrested Cliett in connection with an unrelated car theft case and accused him of being the other person in the Mercedes.

All three suspects remain in custody at the county jail. Samalia has already been charged with first-degree robbery as well as a firearms violation. His bail is set at $200,000.

Cliett and Melton are being held on bail of $50,000 each. Prosecutors still have a few days to file charges.
