PASCO A man was found dead Thursday night along railroad tracks near the Amtrak station in east Pasco.
Pasco police Cpl. Jason Miller said the man appeared to be about 40 years old and may have been a transient. The Franklin County coroner was called to the scene shortly after a Burlington Northern train operator called in at 8:26 p.m. after seeing a body on the ground in the 20-degree conditions.
Police said it appeared the man had been dead 1-2 hours, and while there were no signs of foul play, he may have been struck by a train.
The body was found about 100 yards from the Amtrak depot and several tracks beyond the Amtrak line.
Officials closed tracks several minutes ahead of the scheduled 9:15 p.m. arrival of an Amtrak train. The train arrived 15 minutes late, but an Amtrak worker said the delay was caused by passenger connections.
