PASCO There was little doubt to be had Tuesday night after the Richland High School girls basketball team rolled up a commanding 27-7 first quarter edge against host Pasco, and the Bombers (3-3, 0-1 4A) maintained that swagger for the remainder to record a 59-27 victory against the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-1 3A).
"We kind of put a lot of pressure on them and they had a problem with that," Richland coach Cindy McCoy said.
"At times, we had some good ball movement, and looked to try to move the ball around more than we have in the past."
Britney Pringle led the Richland attack with 17 points and Kennedy Corrigan and Anna Croskrey combined for 19 points. Pringle and Lauren Perry also combined right down the middle for 10 rebounds on the night.
Cierah Alferness was the only Paso player to achieve double digits with 16 points and 15 rebounds, but McCoy still gave the Pasco team credit for doing their level best in the contest.
"His girls kept working hard," she said of Bulldogs coach Aaaron Barcot's squad.
Barcot said that game-time injuries depleted his already spartan bench, but regardless the competition would have been formidable.
"Richland is a very well-coached team," Barcot said. "They ran a 1-2-2 press we would not make smart passes in."
