Two Franklin County teens were hurt Saturday when their car rolled down an embankment after trying to pass a semi-truck on the highway near Connell, the Washington State Patrol said.

Victor M. Romero, 16, of Pasco, and Isidro Sanchez Martinez, 16, of Connell, were both treated at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

Romero was driving a 1991 Honda Accord southbound on Highway 17 when he tried to pass the semi and lost control of his car, troopers said.

The car went off the northbound shoulder, then rolled down an embankment before stopping on its wheels. Both teens were wearing seat belts.

The crashed occurred at 3:25 p.m., about 10 miles northwest of Connell.

Troopers said the wreck was caused by driving too fast for conditions and inattention.
