Richland's Sunken Treasures Games is holding Kart Because You Kare, a charity game tournament.

The eight-player Mario Kart: Double Dash tourney will raise money for Child's Play Charity, which provides new consoles, peripherals, games and more to hospitals and therapy facilities. The event will help buy gifts for children at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane. The tournament starts at 6 p.m. Friday at 1341B George Washington Way.

Store owners Sarah and Aaron Cherney hope to raise $1,000. The minimum entry fee is $5. All proceeds will go to the charity. They also are collecting donations toward the goal at the store, and customers who donate are hanging an ornament with their name on a Christmas tree.

To participate in the tournament, sign up at the store in Richland's Uptown Shopping Center.
