PASCO -- Sadie Sparks scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half, and Delaney Hodgins 10 of her 14 in the second half to lead the Chiawana Riverhawks to a 44-27 nonleague win over the visiting Southridge Suns on Friday night.

The Riverhawks relied on their defense, limiting the Suns to just 12 points in the first half and 16 through three quarters.

Nicole Edwards led the Suns with six points.

"Really neither (team) could make baskets; it was one of those nights where the lid was on the rim," said Riverhawks coach Steve Davis. "Defensively, the last three games we've played really well. It's just that when we play against better teams ... we have to score more than 44 points."

Chiawana will put that to the test, with highly touted Central Valley coming to town for a 3:45 p.m. tipoff today.
