Walla Walla County extends burn bans

Posted: 12:00am on Dec 9, 2011; Modified: 8:14am on Dec 10, 2011

Burn bans will continue until 10 a.m. in Monday in Walla Walla County because stagnant air continues to trap harmful smoke, according to the state Department of Ecology.

The ban applies to unnecessary use of uncertified wood-burning devices (including stoves and fireplaces) and to all outdoor burning. Burn ban violators are subject to civil penalties.

On Monday, the stage one burn ban will either be called off or extended. For more information, call 1-800-406-5322.
