Rankin helps Ams win in Victoria 5-3

VICTORIA, British Columbia — The Tri-City Americans finished their back-to-back Western Hockey League series against the Victoria Royals with a 5-3 victory Wednesday night at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, British Columbia.

At 7:59 of the third period, Connor Rankin scored his second goal of the game to break a 3-3 tie and give the Americans (23-7-0-0, 46 points) the lead for good.

Marcus Messier added an insurance goal less than 2 minutes later, and Eric Comrie totaled 15 saves against the Royals (12-18-1-1, 26 points).

On Tuesday night, Justin Feser scored four points -- two goals and two assists -- to lead the Americans to a 6-2 victory.

The Americans will visit the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night before returning to Kennewick for Sunday night's game against the Portland Winterhawks.
