Richland fire crews responded to a blaze just before 2 p.m. at 2149 Shasta Ave. and found heavy smoke and flames shooting out of the second floor of the residence. A water cannon was used to knock down the flames on the exterior of the building and crews had the fire under control within minutes. No one was home at the time. There was Òextensive damageÓ on the second floor of the residence and heavy smoke damge in the basement. RICHARD DICKIN/HERALD
