Community Unitarian Universalist Church in Pasco is holding its fifth annual Alternative Gift Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The congregation of 65 has used the fair to raise more than $60,000 for charities in the past four years.

Instead of buying unwanted gifts, people can meet representatives of the local, national and international charities and make donations to those organizations in honor of relatives, friends or colleagues.

Gifts to the worthy causes range from $5 and up and can be commemorated with hand-lettered and personalized gift cards made in their name by local calligraphers.

Order forms will be available at www.communityuu.org for those who cannot attend. All orders must be received by Dec. 10. The church is at 2819 W. Sylvester St.

This year's participants include 3 Rivers Guild of Seattle Children's Hospital, Charity: Water, Children's Reading Foundation of the Mid Columbia, Doctors without Borders, Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties, Friends of Badger Mountain, Heifer International, Kadlec Neurological Resource Center, Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society, My Friend's Place, Pathways to Literacy, Pet Over Population Prevention, Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, Tapteal Greenway Association, Tri-Cities Dog Park Society, Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and Vista Youth Center. All gifts are tax deductible.

For more information about the organizations participating in the Alternative Gift Fair and for directions to the church, go to communityuu.org.
