Grade school gratitude

The other night, I had the privilege to attend a concert entitled "Freedom," presented by students at Cottonwood Elementary. The fourth- and fifth-grade marimba bands played. We all stood to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sang The Star Spangled Banner.

Veterans present were invited to stand -- there were quite a few, young and old.

Students filled the stage and sang numerous songs.

Several students read reports on veterans. Some of those veterans were present. Yes, some tears flowed.

The closing song, America, was sung with the Mojo Marimba 5 band accompanying the chorus.

Many thanks to Doug Edwards, music director, and all the teachers and staff who helped with this program.

It was great!
