Not about the test

I just looked at the photo gallery on tricityherald.com of the kids in Prosser during their "cup stacking" contest. What could those teachers have possibly been thinking? The students looked like they were having fun, they were working together, they were working on hand-eye coordination, getting some exercise, practicing problem solving, and on and on.

Not one of those activities will help them pass the state mandated tests this spring. They will, however, teach them lessons about life and friendship and competition and success and failure.

Maybe we should take a lesson from the kids, have a little more fun and get out of our desks once in a while.

Way to go teachers and students!
