A team of students from Delta High School will show off its knowledge of the Constitution at a state competition in January after acing a regional contest last weekend.

The 22 students from the school operated jointly by the Richland, Kennewick and Pasco school districts took part in the "We the People" competition Saturday at the Franklin County Courthouse in Pasco.

The civics education program teaches students about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The program is sponsored by the Center for Civic Education.

The students had to testify in a mock congressional hearing and answer constitutional questions from a panel of judges.

The state competition is Jan. 7 in Olympia.
