SUNNYSIDE -- A man will spend 14 years in prison after admitting to a drive-by shooting.

Victor Herrera, 20, pleaded guilty to first degree assault this week in Yakima County Superior Court, according to a Sunnyside police news release. His sentence includes a five-year firearm enhancement.

With his plea, Herrera admitted that on May 10 he instigated a confrontation with a juvenile victim and fired multiple shots through the front door of a home in the 1700 block of Cascade Way, the release said.

No one was injured.

He and a passenger fled in a red Ford Mustang. Sunnyside police arrested him the next morning.

The case of an accomplice, Jesse Moreno Garcia, is still pending. He is in the Yakima County jail on a $250,000 bond with a variety of other possible charges, including second-degree murder.
