SUNNYSIDE — A 20-year-old man will spend 14 years in jail after admitting to a May drive-by shooting.

Victor Herrera pleaded guilty to first degree assault Monday in Yakima County Superior Court, according to a Sunnyside police news release.

His sentence includes a five-year firearm enhancement.

With his plea, Herrera admitted that on May 10 he instigated a confrontation with a juvenile victim and fired multiple shots through the front door of a home in the 1700 block of Cascade Way, the release said.

No one was injured.

He and a passenger fled in a red Ford Mustang. Sunnyside police arrested him the next morning.

The case of an accomplice, Jesse Moreno Garcia, is still pending. He is in the Yakima County jail on a $250,000 bond with a variety of other possible charges, including second-degree murder.
