UMATILLA -- The Umatilla Chemical Deport has finished destroying its chemical munitions.

As a result, the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Plan (CSEPP) will end and service for Tone Alert Radios will be discontinued. The severe weather alerts available on the radios also will end soon.

These radios should not be thrown out with household garbage because they contain a lead acid battery. Recirculating air filters also should be dropped off at a recycling station.

Recycling centers include the fire department and post office in Plymouth; the fire department in Paterson; Echo, Stanfield, Hermiston Safety Center; McNary, Irrigon and Boardman fire departments; the Stanfield Senior Center and the Stafford Hansell Government Center in Hermiston.
