Roasting one's Thanksgiving turkey is always a safe bet. But several other brave cooks out there have come up with alternative ways to prepare the Thanksgiving bird that could be worth a try, for variety's sake. 1 lb kosher salt
2 quarts vegetable broth
1 lb honey
1 (7-lb) bag of ice
1 (15 to 20-lb) turkey, with giblets removed
