This week, let's thank for Applebee's on Road 68 in Pasco for treating veterans to dinner on Nov. 11.
I am sure that it was mainly a business decision to do so. By offering a slate of mid-price dishes from which veterans with ID could choose free of charge, the restaurant brought in guests with them who ordered top-line entrees, drinks, desserts, etc. No doubt it all worked to Applebee's profit.
Yet in return, we diners received a courteous welcome, speedy service (as prompt as could be on that busy night), tasty food and drink in a festive setting -- all for a very fair bill.
Believers in freedom know that the profit motive in business is the golden rule in practice. It works! You prosper by offering buyers great value for their money as they see it. In this way, on Veterans Day, the folks at Applebee's showed their love of country and thanks to those who served.
