In case you haven't looked out your window in the past hour, it has begun snowing across the Tri-Cities.

The snow began to fall at about 12:30 p.m. in south Richland and hit downtown Kennewick a few minutes later.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 40 percent chance of snow Thursday night in the Tri-Cities.

Rain is likely through tonight in the Tri-Cities, followed by a breezy day Thursday.

Winds of 17 to 22 mph are forecast Thursday with gusts as high as 33 mph.

There’s also a small chance of rain before nightfall Thursday, when any precipitation is expected to turn to snow as the lows dip into the upper 20s in the Tri-City, according to the weather service.

Friday the chance of precipitation is 50 percent, with rain turning to snow above 1,200 feet in the Mid-Columbia. The Tri-City elevation is about 400 feet.

The weather should mostly dry this weekend, just in time for another storm system to move into the Mid-Columbia next week.
