* 2003 -- Kamiakin's defense holds Big Nine rushing champion Tyler Mattair to a season-low 39 yards as the Braves shut out Southridge 14-0 in a first-round 4A state football game at Lampson Stadium. It was the first playoff appearance for the Suns, who managed just 60 yards of offense. Ryan Sutton returned from an ankle injury to run for 114 yards and a TD for Kamiakin.

* 1985 -- Keith Thompson scored on a 5-yard run with 48 seconds left as Kennewick defeated Lewis & Clark 21-14 in the first-round of the state AAA football playoffs.

* 1978 -- It's official. The Columbia Basin College football team is now ranked No. 1 in the nation in both official polls -- the JC Athletic Bureau and the JC Grid-Wire Top 20. CBC is 9-0.
