A Mattawa man was injured in a rollover crash on Highway 243 near Beverly, the Washington State Patrol said.

Cesar Gomez-Gutierrez, 20, was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Alejandro Arellanocuenca, 21, of Yakima.

Arellanocuenca was driving northbound at 5:28 p.m. Saturday when he reportedly tried to pass a car by crossing the double yellow lines at a high speed.

Troopers said Arellanocuenca lost control of the SUV when he tried to pull back into the northbound lanes. The vehicle rolled several times before stopping.

Arellanocuenca was cited for reckless driving, troopers said.

Gomez-Gutierrez was taken to Quincy Valley Hospital. No information was available about his condition Sunday.
