The "game of the year" to end all "games of the year" -- at least until next year -- is close at hand, with Kamiakin (11-0) and Kennewick (10-1) meeting Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lampson Stadium in the 3A state quarterfinals.
The winner not only receives a berth into the state semifinals, but will host the game. That's the good news. The not-as-good news: the visitor will be the survivor of Bellevue-Lakes, two teams roundly regarded as the best in the state. West-siders are calling it the 3A title game -- no doubt Kennewick fans will disagree.
We're still waiting to find out the travel plans of Othello, Prosser, Connell and Royal in the 2A and 1A playoffs. All are on the road, but we're not sure of sites, dates, times, etc.
However, the Bs have their act together (thank you Capt. Kirk).
Waitsburg-Prescott (11-0) will play Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (9-1) -- five towns, one game -- at noon Saturday at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco in a 2B quarterfinal. In the 1B ranks, Touchet (8-2) will play Almira/Coulee-Hartline (11-0) at 7 p.m. Friday at Lions Field in Moses Lake.
We'll update as we get more information.
