LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- The Tri-City Americans made a clean sweep of their three-game trek through the Central Division, wrapping up their road trip with a 7-3 victory Saturday night over the Lethbridge Hurricanes at Enmax Centre.

Defenseman Zach Yuen scored two goals and Patrick Holland, playing in his hometown, had a goal and two assists for the Americans (15-5-0-0, 30 points), who have won five in a row.

"We played pretty well except for the first 40 minutes tonight," Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. "Fortunately, we were able to get away with a subpar performance in the first two periods."

Lethbridge dropped to 3-17-0-1 (7 points) with the loss and have the worst record in the WHL. The Hurricanes have lost four consecutive games, and have just one win in their last 10 games.

"That's the best team in the west and I thought we played two really good periods," Hurricanes head coach Rich Preston told the Lethbridge Herald. "We had to kill seven penalties in the first two periods and I thought we were really good. But you have to play three periods. We weren't good in the third. We didn't even get a shot."

While the Hurricanes were flat in the third, the Americans poured it on.

Mitch Topping, Malte Stromwall and Holland scored goals, with Holland's coming short-handed with 21 seconds left in the game.

"It's nice to see (the scoring) spread out," Hiller said. "Malte has scored two games in a row and Jordan (Messier) is starting to find the net."

Tri-City jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period with goals by Yuen and Justin Feser, only to see Lethbridge come back with a goal by Jay Merkley to make it 2-1.

Brody Sutter took advantage of a poor clearing pass from the Americans just 2:21 into the second, beating Eric Comrie to tie the score at 2.

Goals by Jordan Messier and Yuen gave Tri-City a 4-2 lead, but Nick Buonassisi converted a penalty shot to cut the deficit to 4-3.

That would be it for the Hurricanes, who were outshot 18-0 in the third.

Brian Williams, Adam Hughesman and Brendan Shinnimin all had two assists for the Americans, who also got 13 saves from Comrie, who improved to 6-2-0-0.

The Americans return to action Friday at Seattle for their first meeting with the Thunderbirds this season.

Tri-City will host B.C. Division-leading Kamloops next Saturday.
