KENNEWICK -- A double dose of playoff football is set for Saturday at Lampson Stadium, with the Southridge Suns (7-3) taking on the Kennewick Lions (9-1) at noon, and Kamiakin Braves (10-0) entertaining Seattle Prep (9-1) at 3 p.m.
This is the second time all three Kennewick schools have reached the first round of the state playoffs.
In 2007, Kennewick topped Camas before losing to Skyline, and Kamiakin handed Southridge a 20-6 loss before eventually losing to Kennedy in the semifinals.
The Suns have qualified for state in seven of the last nine seasons but have just one win to show for it (1-6).
Kennewick, which defeated Southridge 35-7 in Week 8, is making just its second state appearance since 1993.
Kamiakin, on the other hand, has a healthy state resume over the last two decades. The Braves also made the playoffs in '93, and have returned 12 times since then, including last year's run to the state championship game and runner-up finish.
