Candidate responds

I need to set the record straight regarding an article in the Oct. 30 Mid-Columbia section titled "Veteran, newcomer vie in Kennewick." There are several inaccuracies within the article. First, as the Herald noted in a correction the following day, I have never been on the Board of Adjustments, much less the chairwoman. That was Joe Kadinger, candidate in the primaries.

Second, I have stated that many citizens have told me they want to see something done with the carousel, but I have also stated it is not a priority, has nothing to do with job creation and should be continued to be housed until economic times are better.

Third, to state that my community involvement has been comparatively low-key is not the case. My vocational background is diverse, however all of the positions I have held have been in serving the community. No, I have not "volunteered" to the extent of my opponent and have been paid for my involvement, it was still for the benefit of the community.

Lastly, the article stated my opponent has attended "a few thousand" council meetings. If Mr. Parish attended a council meeting or workshop every week for the past 16 years, he would have attended 832 meetings. I highly doubt he was present at more than 1,200 meetings prior to becoming a council member.
