A 34-year-old Pasco man was shocked with a Taser gun after allegedly trying to run his wife off the road and leading police on a chase through a farm field in east Pasco.

Jose Jimenez Cano bailed out of his car and took off running down Tank Farm Road and onto the railroad tracks, but was stopped when officers used their Taser, court documents said.

After a short struggle, Jimenez Cano was handcuffed and taken to the Franklin County jail.

Jimenez Cano made his first appearance Wednesday in Franklin County Superior Court, where Judge Cameron Mitchell ordered him held on investigation of attempting to elude police.

Prosecutors have until Friday to charge him.

Deputy Prosecutor Teddy Chow said there is a potential that Jimenez Cano also could face a second-degree assault charge for events that happened before he ran from police.

Chow asked for $10,000 bail, saying Jimenez Cano previously has been deported and is a flight risk. Mitchell agreed to the request.

Jimenez Cano then told the court through an interpreter that he won't leave.

"I want to finish taking care of everything here before I go back," he said.

According to court documents, Jimenez Cano's wife had decided to divorce him and on Tuesday got help from a domestic violence coordinator to seek a protection order against him.

The order was granted and the victim made arrangements to meet her husband at McDonald's in Pasco, with plans to have officers there serve him with the order.

She planned to drop off her two children at home before meeting him, but saw Jimenez Cano waiting at the house, documents said.

He pulled in front of her, then followed as she drove away. She told officers that he tried to ram or force her off the road, and she was forced into oncoming traffic several times on A Street, documents said.

The victim drove to the police station but when she didn't see any officers outside, she drove to McDonald's, went through the drive-through and asked employees to call police.

She said she thought her husband was trying to kill her and her children, documents said.

Officers responded to the victim's house on Sycamore Street, and saw Jimenez Cano. He failed to stop for police and drove at speeds reaching 90 mph down A Street, documents said.

He missed the turn onto Road 40, hit a sign and continued through the field. After he jumped out of his car, three officers ran after him before catching him on the railroad tracks.
