* 2002 -- Sunnyside's Isley Gonzalez pulled away in the final half-mile to win the girls 3A state cross-country title at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

* 1993 -- Kelly Washington's shootout goal was the difference as Hanford defeated Ephrata 3-2 for the Mid-Valley League girls district soccer title.

* 1971 -- Richland (7-0) was ranked sixth in the latest Washington AAA football poll, voted on by the state's sports writers. Puyallup (8-0) was ranked No. 1.

* 1956 -- Jim Smith scored three touchdowns, Fred Fields had two

and Dave Milam, Bill Maddox and Leon Smith each scored one as the Pasco football team routed Moses Lake 50-6.
