The "Battle of the Banks and Credit Unions" food drive begins today. Food collection barrels are inside most local bank and credit union branches and will remain in place through Nov. 30.

The competition between the banks and credit unions will see who can collect the most food. The winner will be announced Dec. 3.

Listed are a few of the participating banks and credit unions: Bank of the West, Key Bank, Banner Bank, US Bank, Bank of America, Washington Trust, AmericanWest, Kennewick Community Credit Union, Sterling Savings, HAPO Community Credit Union, Yakima Federal, Columbia Bank, Columbia River, Washington Trust, Bank Reale and Global Savings.
