Trick-or-treating, children's parties
-- A costume party for ages 5 to 12 will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Elite Force Cheer at 8382 W. Gage Blvd., Suite N, behind Columbia Center. There will be a bounce house castle with slide, Tumble Trak, Zip Line, mummy wrap game, costume contest and much more. Admission is $8.
-- Academy of Children's Theatre Halloween Dessert Theatre starts at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the ACT studio, 213 Wellsian Way, Richland. Theme is The Twilight Zone and includes desserts and some amazing entertainment by ACT students. Cost: $10 at the door.
-- The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities will hold its annual "Trick or Treat on the Trail," a Halloween-themed hike up Badger Mountain Trail. The walk starts at 10 a.m. Oct. 29. The event is free and open to all ages. Adults and children are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes.
Participants will be provided with trick-or-treat bags, goodies, a snack and water. The walk will be followed by a barbecue picnic, pumpkin decorating and face painting.
Registration, which is required, begins at 9:15 a.m. The first 100 children registered will receive a free T-shirt.
-- Prayer Watch Christian Center will hold "A Walk Through the Bible" trunk or treat from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at 602 S. Washington St., Kennewick. There will be a magician, balloons and food.
-- Safe Place Trick or Treat is from 4 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at Riverton Retirement & Assisted Living community, 1800 Bellerive Drive, Richland.
-- UNICEF Carnival and Trunk or Treat event for kids up to grade 5, 4:30-6 p.m. Oct. 30 at First United Methodist Church, corner of Dayton Street and Kennewick Avenue. Costumes encouraged. Carnival tickets are five for $1.
-- O'Henry's restaurant, 20 S. Auburn St., Kennewick, invites kids to stop by and trick-or-treat from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31.

-- Trunk or Treat Family Night is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Garden Christian Assembly Church, 7425 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick. Free for all ages. Call 735-1650.
-- Trunk or Treat is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Columbia Foursquare Church, 700 Comstock St., Richland. About 30 cars will be decked out for Halloween. Free. Call 946-6804.
-- A Halloween party for babies to age 6 is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 31 at Tiny Tots Indoor Playground, 1523 Fowler in Richland. Cost is $5 for ages 18 months to 6 and free for 17 months and younger.
-- Historic Downtown Prosser merchants will offer treats to trick-or-treaters from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be posters on the doors of participating businesses.

-- Ranch & Home's SafeT Street Trick or Treat event is from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Red Lion Hotel next to Columbia Center mall in Kennewick.
-- The Treats On Main & Beyond Halloween party is from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Community Center in downtown Hermiston. Festivities include a haunted house, bounce houses, black light room, toddler play area, games, candy and snacks. Admission is free. Trick or treating happens from 3 to 5 p.m. at downtown businesses.
-- Monster Mash is from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Boys & Girls Club Music & Arts Center, 20 N. Benton St., Kennewick. Free. Brave ghosts and goblins can also visit the Spider Witch in her Haunted House.
-- Trunk or Treat is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at La Villa Espresso, 5025 N. Road 68, Pasco. Free. Call 545-1336. All ages welcome for a fun and safe place to trick or treat. Prizes will be awarded for the most original and creative costume for ages 10 years and younger, and prizes for all ages for best decorated trunk. Winners announced at 7:30 p.m.
-- Monster Bash is from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 31 at Sure Shot Billiards & Darts, 2602 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Kennewick. Live music by Vaughn Jensen Band, costume contest giveaways and a spooky alley for all brave souls. Cost: $5 for adults, free for ages 12 and younger.
Festivals, corn mazes
-- Walla Walla Corn Maze is open Thursdays through Sundays through Oct. 31. The site is at 853 Five Mile Road in Walla Walla. Hours are from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursdays, from 6 to 11 p.m. Fridays, from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturdays and from 4 to 9 p.m. Sundays. -- Fall Carnival is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Richland Community Center. Admission is $2 for Richland residents and $2.50 for nonresidents.
-- The Easy Swing Dance Band provides the music for the all-ages Halloween dance from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Richland Community Center, 500 Amon Park Drive. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. Admission is $5. For more information, call 946-5385.

-- Bump in the Night party for ages 18 and older starts at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Jokers Comedy Club on Wellsian Way in Richland. Events include costume contests with $2,000 in prizes, free pizza and go-go dancers. Cover is $7 with a costume, $10 without for ages 18-20, $5 for 21 and older.
-- Battle of the Bands Halloween party starts at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Rock Reactor, 117 W. Kennewick Ave. Cover is $10. For more information, call 987-7772.

-- The rock band Reckless will provide the music for O'Callanhan's Halloween party from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Shilo Inn, Richland. There is no cover, and costumes are encouraged.
-- Freak Fest 2011 Costume Ball starts at 10 p.m. Oct. 28-29 at Jack Didley's Comedy Club, 109 W. Kennewick Ave. Cancun trip giveaways are the top prize for the costume contests each night. The event is open to the 21 and older crowd. Cover is $3.
-- Absolut Freak Night for ages 21 and older starts at 10 p.m. Oct. 29 at Jokers Comedy Club on Wellsian Way in Richland. The event includes costume contests with $3,000 in prizes. Cover is $5.
-- Fright Flight & Art Spectacle is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Three Rivers Winery, 5641 W. Highway 12, Walla Walla. Cost is $10 to $15. For more information, call 509-526-9463. Bewitch the senses with a frightening flight of wines paired with different sticky, chewy, crunchy and gooey Halloween treats.
-- Spooktacular Halloween party featuring Primitive Circus is from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 29 at Bookwalter Winery, 894 Tulip Lane, Richland. Costumes are required. Bring a carved pumpkin for a contest. Admission is $30.
-- The rock band 3rd Date plays Oct. 29 at The Pub Tavern in Kennewick. Music starts at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. Prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes. The event is open only to those 21 and older.
Fundraisers
-- The Lawyers and Artists' Costume Ball will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 29 at Clover Island Inn, Cedars Restaurant and Ice Harbor Brewery, all in Kennewick. The event features live music by various bands, food and beverages.
Admission is $25. All proceeds go to My Friend's Place, an emergency shelter for homeless teenagers in the Tri-Cities. Tickets are available at the hotel. All ages.
Other spooks
-- The Eternal Nightmare Haunted House is at the home of Carla Watson, 5600 Maui Court in West Richland. Hauntings start at dusk. There will be dark, slimy hallways, a torture chamber, an electric chair, various torture tools and whacked-out mad scientist ready to experiment on unsuspecting visitors. There also will be a creepy boneyard and a possessed nursery. There is no cost to enter the haunted house, but donations are welcome of dog and cat food for the Pet Over Population Prevention organization.
-- The Haunted Forest at Sacajawea State Park in Pasco is from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 28-29 and 31. Cost is $9 with kids 5 and younger free.
Visitors to the Haunted Forest must park their car at the east end of Port of Pasco and be shuttled into the park for the fright night. Participants should dress warm, wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a good scare.
But before the haunting starts, there will be trick-or-treat fun from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the park. Festivities include face painting, pumpkin crafts, carnival games, costume contest, candy and snacks. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

-- The CREHST museum's Tombstone Tales cemetery tours are back in time for Halloween.
The tour runs every 20 minutes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Oct. 28 and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Only 20 people per tour are allowed. Tickets are $6. The tours are of the Resthaven Cemetery at 700 Williams Blvd., Richland.
-- The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be shown at 7:30 p.m. and again at midnight Oct. 29 at The Princess Theatre, 1228 Meade Ave., in downtown Prosser.
Admission is $20 for the preshow social hour (for the 21 and older crowd only), movie entrance and audience participation prop bag. Tickets are available at Adventures Underground in Richland and Sixth Street Art Gallery in Prosser. Tickets are also available at the door.
-- The Oregon Coast Aquarium will hold its annual Halloween party Oct. 29 at the aquarium in Newport, Ore. For goblins and ghouls ages 9 and younger, there will be a gentler scare event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festivities include dive presentations, face painting, games, kids crafts, storytelling and candy.
The aquarium will close its doors and reopen at 6:30 p.m. that day for its sinister Creatures of the Night event, which is recommended for ages 10 and older. Festivities include spooky divers in the shark tunnel, haunted caves and a murder suspect lurking in the dark somewhere.
