Charges were filed Wednesday against a Pasco man accused of stabbing his co-worker at a Franklin County dairy farm last week.

Jose A. Vazquez-Barron, 32, of Kennewick, is expected to appear Tuesday in Franklin County Superior Court. He is charged with second-degree assault, and remains jailed on $500,000 bail.

Vazquez-Barron was arrested by Franklin County sheriff's deputies Oct. 14 after allegedly stabbing Bernardo Madrigal-Guzman.

Both men work at the dairy farm, officials said.

Madrigal-Guzman, 21, of Pasco, was treated for a 2-centimeter puncture wound on the left side of his rib cage at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. He was released later the same day.

Deputies were called to the 5D Dairy farm at 2300 Kruse Road by a witness who said Madrigal-Guzman went to his home and said Vazquez-Barron had stabbed him with a knife, court documents said.

Madrigal-Guzman told deputies Vazquez-Barron stabbed him during an argument the two were having.

A folding knife used in the assault was recovered by deputies.
