Investigators hope to release details today in Royal City police shooting

ROYAL CITY-- The Grant County Sheriff's Office said investigators have asked to withhold information about a fatal police shooting in Royal City until they have more answers.

Public information officer Kyle Foreman said a task force of detectives from Columbia Basin agencies is investigating and may release details today.

Foreman said a Royal City police officer on patrol fatally shot a man at 5:15 p.m. Monday outside at home in a mobile home park. Foreman said the circumstances of the shooting are unclear.

Names have not been released. The deputy is on paid leave for the investigation.
