The new Alliance for a Livable and Sustainable Community will have its organizing workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Way, 401 N. Young St. in Kennewick.
The group formed in April to promote sustainable practices in land use, economic development, transportation, human health and energy and technology development. It was formed after two large community forums held in 2005 and 2010.
The keynote speakers will be Jessica Green and Chris Forney from Brightworks, a group that managed LEED certification and sustainability programs for building projects.
The event is free, and the public is invited. To RSVP, email alsc.brooke@gmail.com.
