* 1987 -- Goaltender Stephanie Middleton stopped a whopping 32 shots as the Kamiakin girls soccer team handed Richland its first Big Nine loss, 2-1. "It was like there were two goalies," Braves coach Chris Erikson said of Middleton's performance as her team was outshot 33-11.

* 1974 -- Kennewick junior Gene Warner just missed breaking the course record by two seconds to lift the Lions' cross country team to a pair of dual-meet wins over Moses Lake and Eisenhower. Warner negotiated the Park Middle School course, finished in 10 minutes, 29 seconds.

* 1959 -- Floyd Davis scored Kiona-Benton's lone touchdown early in the fourth quarter as Granger romped to a 34-6 victory over the Bears in a Conference B game in Benton City.
