A Kennewick man was injured when his car was hit by a pickup on Highway 17 near Warden around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Michael J. Shaffer, 30, was driving northbound on Highway 17 when Robert L. Cisneros, 41, of Othello, turned left onto the roadway from Highway 170.

Cisneros failed to yield, said the Washington State Patrol, and his 1987 Ford Ranger pickup was hit by Shaffer's 1998 Nissan Altima.

Neither Cisneros or his passenger, Luis Alberto Gonzalez-Padilla, 31, of Othello, were injured.

Shaffer was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. He was not at the hospital as of Saturday afternoon.

Cisneros was charged in connection with failure to yield, lacking insurance and driving while license suspended in the third degree, according to the patrol.
